Tom Taylor is a mastermind when it comes down to writing action stories with deep motivations and character portrayals that do matter。 This is the final chapter of the DCeased saga and it has been quite a trip。 I'm gonna miss the DCeased universe and all its gore, but most importantly, the incredible heroics we saw under this scenario。 Tom Taylor is a mastermind when it comes down to writing action stories with deep motivations and character portrayals that do matter。 This is the final chapter of the DCeased saga and it has been quite a trip。 I'm gonna miss the DCeased universe and all its gore, but most importantly, the incredible heroics we saw under this scenario。 。。。more
BB,
I really enjoyed this series! Seeing Jon, Damian, and Cassie fill the roles of their mentors was really cool。 I'm hoping this isn't the final volume because there are a couple of pretty important plot points that were left hanging。 I really enjoyed this series! I don't think any comic has ever made me exclaim out loud the way DCeased (in its various incarnations) did。 This isn't the sort of thing I ever thought I'd love, but, well, here we are。 I don't think any comic has ever made me exclaim out loud the way DCeased (in its various incarnations) did。 This isn't the sort of thing I ever thought I'd love, but, well, here we are。 。。。more
Billy Jepma,
Tom Taylor writes superheroes real good, huh?The original DCeased was a lot of fun, the spin-off equally so, and thankfully, Dead Planet lives up to it。 In some ways, I think this is the best story of the three, as Taylor strikes an almost perfect balance of horror, tragedy, and character。 The first half of the series is five-star material, honestly。 Seeing the new Justice League (i。e。, Damian Wayne, Jon Kent, and Cassie Sandsmark all taking up the mantles of their fallen mentors) is great, givi Tom Taylor writes superheroes real good, huh?The original DCeased was a lot of fun, the spin-off equally so, and thankfully, Dead Planet lives up to it。 In some ways, I think this is the best story of the three, as Taylor strikes an almost perfect balance of horror, tragedy, and character。 The first half of the series is five-star material, honestly。 Seeing the new Justice League (i。e。, Damian Wayne, Jon Kent, and Cassie Sandsmark all taking up the mantles of their fallen mentors) is great, giving Taylor plenty of opportunities to show off just how well he knows these characters。 Character development isn't really a priority for a series like this, but there are so many meaningful character moments that it makes up for it。 It's easy to believe in these characters and their actions, which is the most important thing an "event series" like this needs to accomplish。The second half is more rushed and loses a bit of the characterization I loved, but my biggest gripe is how Taylor introduces some important twists into the plot but doesn't follow them up。 This could be set-up for another spin-off series, which I would be very down for, but for reveals as dramatic as the ones he introduces, letting them hang loose is a little frustrating。 Similarly, the resolution in the final issue moves very fast, which robs the significant moments of some of the impact they deserve。 I almost wish the series had eight issues instead of seven, so we could've had a lengthier resolution for the story and, more importantly, for the (surviving) characters。 Hairsine, Gaudiano, Baldassini, and Beredo's artwork is consistently top-notch, though。 Hairsine's linework is an obvious standout, as he captures the larger-than-life appeal of the heroes and brings some killer energy to the paneling and layouts of the action。 The artwork is paced even better than Taylor's writing is, honestly, and uses its layouts to increase suspense and elevate every moment of heartwrenching tragedy。 While not as grim as the original DCeased, Dead Planet has plenty of surprises and once again brings a degree of violence and gore you rarely see from a DC Comics series like this。 It's great stuff and gives the story the stakes it needs to keep the tension at an all-time high。I never thought I'd enjoy a zombie-based superhero comic。。。but when it's in the hands of a creative time like this one, it works。 The plot gets a little too ambitious for its own good, but the stellar characterization and dramatic, exciting artwork make this a title very much worth reading。 。。。more
Miga Avalos,
This kicked soo much ass! Let Tom Taylor write Justice League!
Christopher,
It didn't really take me a month to read, I just couldn't say I finished the book until the last issue was released。 I like a lot of what DCeased brought to the table but it does get frustrating when you see that the first book has several sequels that are basically each little "what if" stories of their own。 None of them relate to the other except for the initial storyline。 People who live in one die in the other and there's not really a good sense of why。 I do like the way this one ended bette It didn't really take me a month to read, I just couldn't say I finished the book until the last issue was released。 I like a lot of what DCeased brought to the table but it does get frustrating when you see that the first book has several sequels that are basically each little "what if" stories of their own。 None of them relate to the other except for the initial storyline。 People who live in one die in the other and there's not really a good sense of why。 I do like the way this one ended better than the other though。 Well, except for the John Constantine bit where he does the "I have a master plan but I can't tell anyone because I'm an asshole and you'll stop me" and then he does the thing and everyone is like "you asshole"。 Interesting plan too。 Now I wait for the third variation of DCeased where some big hitters are still alive。 OK, "alive"。 。。。more

This felt a bit rushed at bits, but all in all a fitting finale (? unless there's a volume coming out that I do not know of?) for this event。 This felt a bit rushed at bits, but all in all a fitting finale (? unless there's a volume coming out that I do not know of?) for this event。 。。。more
Bryan Stoffel,
This series is absolutely fantastic! Sequel to the original DCeased run, this sees our surviving heroes living on a different planet five years in the future。 When Cyborg sends a message out saying he can cure the earth, our heroes return to their home planet to try and cure the virus。Unless it’s Batman, oftentimes I’m turned off by DC books due to the vast back-knowledge you’re usually required to have on this universe, as well as overly convoluted plots。 Where DCeased could fall into this cate This series is absolutely fantastic! Abhi Kamboji,
This series was the perfect conclusion to the DCeased storyline。 Although there are some things it did not address, so maybe another sequel 👀?
FortressOfBookitude,
The story is messy, convoluted and at some point rushed, but I still enjoyed a lot of it - especially the emotional moments between the characters。

Good series and really well handled by the writer! 。。。more
